What Dayward keeps

Depending on the features you use, Dayward stores:

• countdowns: title, date, symbol, colour, reminder choice and an optional background photo you pick;
• quotes you write yourself, and which quotes you’ve marked as favourites;
• preferences such as theme, whether authors are shown, and your daily reminder time;
• for Sky, a place name, approximate coordinates and time zone; and
• reminders you turn on, scheduled with Apple’s notification system on your device.

Where it’s stored and synced

Everything is stored on your device. If iCloud is on for Dayward, your countdowns (including their photos) and your own quotes also sync through the private database of your iCloud account, so they appear on your other iPhone and iPad. Apple operates iCloud under its own privacy terms; the developer cannot see this data.

Favourites, preferences, reminders and your Sky place are not synced. They stay on each device.

Widgets

To show your quote, countdowns and sky on the Home Screen and Lock Screen, Dayward writes a small snapshot to storage shared only with its own widgets on the same device. It contains today’s quote, your countdown titles, dates, symbols and colours, your theme, and your Sky place name with a summary of the day’s light and the moon. It never leaves your device.

Location and Sky

Sky can use your current location if you choose it. Dayward asks for permission only while you use the app, asks only for kilometre-level accuracy, and rounds coordinates to about a kilometre before saving them. Sunrise, sunset, twilight, moon and season calculations happen entirely on your device.

To show a place name, Dayward asks Apple Maps for the name of the rounded location. If you search for a place instead, your search text is sent to Apple Maps. Apple handles these requests under its own privacy terms. You can change location access at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services.

Photos

Background photos are chosen with Apple’s photo picker, so Dayward only receives the photo you pick and never has access to the rest of your library. If you share a quote or countdown as an image and choose to save it, iOS asks once for permission to add images to Photos. Dayward never reads your library.

Notifications

The daily thought and countdown reminders are optional. Dayward asks for notification permission only when you turn one on, and schedules them locally on your device. No push service of ours is involved.

Analytics, advertising and tracking

Dayward contains no third-party SDKs, analytics, advertising or tracking, and doesn’t share data with data brokers. It makes no network requests of its own beyond Apple’s iCloud and Maps services described above. This website adds no analytics, cookies or tracking scripts; its host, Vercel, processes standard request information such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.

Backups and sharing

Dayward creates a backup file or a share image only when you ask it to, and you choose where it goes. A backup contains your countdowns and their photos, your own quotes and your favourites, so keep it somewhere you trust.

Deleting your data

• Touch and hold a countdown or one of your own quotes, then tap Delete.
• Tap a filled heart to remove a favourite, and turn off a reminder to cancel it.
• Deleting the app removes everything Dayward stored on that device, including widget data and scheduled reminders.
• If you used iCloud sync, delete items in Dayward while sync is on, or remove Dayward’s data in Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Account Storage.

Because the developer holds no copy of your data, there is nothing on our side to delete or export.

Children

Dayward is suitable for everyone and doesn’t knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Support email

If you email support, your message and email address are kept as ordinary email so we can reply. Please don’t include more than is needed to describe the problem. You can ask for the conversation to be deleted.

Changes

If Dayward’s features or data handling change, this policy will be updated and the effective date above will change with it.
